HOW TO JOIN

We accept members at the beginning of each semester. We will announce all meetings on social media, but please feel free to email us at equiterps@gmail.com to receive a reminder of the meeting. We do not require tryouts, however we do have a limited number of lesson spots for riding members.

If you want to ride/show: Please look for our meeting announcement or contact the team before the start of the semester. Again, there are a limited number of lesson spots, so please reach out if you are an incoming student and you're interested in joining the team!

 

If you don't want to ride:  You may join any time at the beginning of the semester, but the sooner the better so you can get involved early!

Please note that UMD also has the Maryland Equestrian Club. This is a club that works with the horses on campus and allows opportunities to ride and expand horsemanship. If you are looking to ride but don't wish to be competitive in IHSA, this might be a better fit for you.  

 

MEMBERSHIP

We offer three membership levels, outlined below.

 

1. Riding/Showing:

  • $45 annual IHSA registration fee

  • Approx. $800/semester* for 13 weeks of lessons

    • **Subject to change 

  • Fundraise $80/semester

  • Attend mandatory events (meetings, home shows, etc.)

  • Cover the cost of showing/coaching fees (about $150/show)

 

2. Riding/Non-Showing:

  • Approx. $800/semester for 13 weeks of lessons 

    • **Subject to change 

  • Fundraise $80/semester

  • Attend mandatory events (meetings, home shows, etc.)

 

**ALL RIDING MEMBERS MUST BE ABLE TO TACK UP ON THEIR OWN AND WALK/TROT/CANTER IN A GROUP **

3. Non-Riding:

  • Fundraise $10/semester

  • Attend mandatory events (meetings, home shows, etc.)

Please note that fundraising directly contributes to lessons costs. The more funding we receive and raise, the cheaper lessons are!
