MARYLAND
EQUESTRIAN TEAM
About Us
The University of Maryland Equestrian Team (UMET) is the highest recognized riding team at UMD. We strive to be competitive as a club sport, which means we are mostly self-sufficient in organization, leadership, and fundraising aside from yearly allowances from the University. We compete in IHSA Zone 4 Region 1 to test our equitation and adaptability on horses of which we are mostly unfamiliar.
TEAM VALUES
HORSEMANSHIP
UMET puts a heavy focus on horsemanship and seeking cooperation with our four-legged friends. This guides our lessons, our horse care, and any equine-related team activities.
COMMUNITY
We strive to give back to our community as much as possible, whether it is direct advocation for horses or an organized team event to give back to a nearby farm. Community service is required for all members.
SPORTSMANSHIP
We spend a lot of time together over the show season, we might as well enjoy each other's company! We strive for this through team activities (horsey or non-horsey) and events planned by our social chair.
