Scheduling

Lesson groups are made with the consideration of level/ability as well as scheduling and each riding member is offered one lesson a week. The time commitment for a lesson is about 3 hours, accounting for travel and barn time. The time breakdown is roughly:

1 hour for travel + 30min for grooming/tacking + 1 hour for riding + 30min for untacking/cool out

Transportation

Meadowbrook Stables is roughly 20-30 minutes away from campus, depending on traffic. The team organizes carpools for transportation to lessons and other team events, so no need to worry if you won't have a car on campus! Those that do volunteer to be a driver will be reimbursed by the team according to average gas prices and federal rates.

Attire

As a competitive equitation team, we expect a level of professionalism in lesson attire. A typical lesson outfit consists of tall boots or paddock boots and half chaps, breeches, a collared shirt tucked in with a belt, and a correctly fitting helmet. No jeans are permitted. If you have any questions please ask, the goal is to make the team accessible!

Make-Up Lessons

We understand that life happens! College is a busy time and you are a student first. All riding members receive a make-up lesson per semester, as long as the absence is excused and communicated to the team as well as Meadowbrook. Specific policies are covered in team meetings and bylaws, and we can deal with absences on a case-by-case basis.
